Tuesday Tech

Hey all!
Rehearsals are going GREAT! Last night we ran the entire show and worked on the dance routine. Despite a few set backs involving a bench, a YUDU, and a couple of parking tickets (whoopsie pie), everything seems to be falling in to place quite nicely.
Tonight is the COSTUME PARADE! This is one of my favorite nights of all, because for me... it all comes together when the costumes are on ;) I am excited to see how everything turns out and share pictures with all of you.
For now, it's off to class! Gotta love the busy life of a full time student ;)

Rehearsing Away!

This past week has been FULL of rehearsals!!
I am getting so excited for opening... only a few days away!
I've been working on the set and costumes this weekend, so the cast got a little break to work on their lines. I am looking forward to seeing how they do at tomorrow's rehearsal!
Speaking of rehearsal... Here are a few "teaser" shots from last week...

Hope you're as excited as I am about The Pretty Girl Basket Toss! <3

POSTER DESIGN

I am so excited to be able to reveal our poster design for The Pretty Girl Basket Toss!
This is low resolution copy of the poster we will be hanging around campus and town!
I am so grateful for Perri Jo Johnson, one of my cast members, for designing and creating this amazing poster. She was able to capture exactly what I was looking for... Simple and abstract, yet still colorful and intruiging.
Isn't she awesome?!

A Lesson in OUTSIDE Choreography

RULE #1: Well hydrated actors are happy actors.
RULE #2: Even if it isn't too hot outside... You can still get a sun burn!
RULE #3: Patience is key!

This past Saturday the cast and I took it outside to shake our groove thangs ;)
It was probably quite a sight for any on-lookers, but being that it was the last Saturday of spring break, they were few and far between.
Regardless of 90% of the cast getting burned to a crisp, we had an amazing dance session. I'm so excited for you to see what our wonderful choreographer, Melanie, has come up with!
Here we are, just starting practice! That's Melanie, Jenny, Lizzy, Megghan, Yamile, and Perri Jo. I've got to say, we made MAJOR strides after this photo was taken. Look how nervous all of the girls look!
Here's little miss professional, Melanie, working out the routine!
We took a little break and hit the shade, but even during our down-time, Melanie kept the girls on their toes! I think this is when Giggle-Mode set in =)
Just before we wrapped the day, we ran through the first half of the routine... it is coming along SO WELL. I'm definitely impressed by all of the cast members!

I am so excited to continue to share this little adventure with you.
Today we blocked pages 1-24 and everything seems to be coming along very smoothly!
Tomorrow we will finish up blocking the show and start printing the posters. I couldn't be more thrilled with the way things are going!

What's... This all about?

For my Senior Capstone project I will be combining the knowledge I've gained over the last four years, both in production and promotion, to produce The Pretty Girl Basket Toss at Rogers State University. I will be using a number of techniques learned in my Communication Arts option to make this production possible.
Although I'm VERY excited about the actual production, I will also be focusing on many other aspects. One aspect that I think is often overlooked is the process of production; read-throughs, blocking, dance calls... All of which are almost just as entertaining as the actual show!
This blog will capture the last two weeks of rehearsal before opening night... a very interesting time for directors and cast members alike...
I hope this is informative, interesting, and above all ENTERTAINING!
Be looking forward to several updates over the next couple of weeks... Photos, videos, and cast interviews will all be included! I am so excited to be able to share this with you from my point of view (a first time director and producer).
